Salinda (Yan Zheng) studied traditional Chinese brush painting for three years in Beijing before emigrating to the U.S. in 2012 Prior to her retirement in 2009, she was in the PRC Diplomatic Corps and served in embassies throughout the world. She married Richard Zunkel, also an artist in 2012 and became interested in Western style watercolor painting. She practiced her craft at plein air outings sponsored by the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society. She attended Tony Couch's watercolor workshop in Cambria, California and the Ichen Art Academy in Fremont. She has become an accomplished watercolor landscape artist, and uses her talent and training to produce beautiful original greeting cards, a favorite at local art shows and sales.
